PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combine harvester capable of preventing culms from being spilled by reducing the clearance between an assistant conveyor chain and a guide bar 109 over a long distance of conveyance while preventing the nipping force of the reaped grain culms from being deficient when a grain culm layer is thinned. SOLUTION: Nipping means 104 includes the guide bar 109 facing to the conveyance action side of the assistant conveyor chain 41a orbiting between a vertically conveying device and a feed chain, and a guide holder 106 for supporting the guide bar 109 so as to be moved far and near based on the assistant conveyor chain 41a. A control motor 119 in the means for far and near driving is constituted so that when a second presence or absence sensor 122 of the grain culm, arranged in the assistant conveyor 41 detects the passage of no grain culm, the site facing to the conveyance terminal part of the assistant conveyor chain 41a in the guide bar 109 may approach.
