A magnetic flowmeter [10] comprises a pipe section [14], an insulating liner [26], a flangeless retention collar [32, 33], a liner protector [31], a coil [15] and an electromotive force sensor [16]. The insulating liner [26] lines the pipe section [14] to form a process flow channel. The flangeless retention collar [32, 33] is located on an end of the pipe section [14] for forming an end-to-end fluid connection to the process flow channel, and the liner protector [31] is formed on the retention collar [32, 33] to provide an end seal for the insulating liner [26]. The coil [15] produces a magnetic field within the process flow channel, and the electromotive force sensor [16] senses an electromotive force generated in fluid flow through the process flow channel.
