<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting device of high reliability, long service life, which can also suppress the peeling off of a sealing resin, while preventing the discoloration of a metal member. <P>SOLUTION: The light-emitting device includes the metal member, a package in which a recessed portion, having a bottom face and a side face exposing a part of the metal member, a light-emitting element electrically connected to the metal member arranged in the recessed portion, and the sealing resin filled up in the recessed portion, wherein it has a resin layer in the interface with the sealing resin and the bottom face and the side face; the water vapor permeation performance of the resin layer is lower than the water vapor permeation performance of the sealing resin; and the coefficient of linear expansion of the resin layer is set to be smaller than the coefficient of linear expansion of the sealing resin. Furthermore, it is preferable that the resin layer cover 60% or more of the side face. Furthermore, it is preferable that the resin layer contain a filler and/or phosphor.
