PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adaptive correction means for an edge portion of an image to be printed, meeting a state of an output device. SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes: a print sample generating means which generates a print sample, having a plurality of density areas, for correcting density gradations in an edge portion of an image to be printed; a density area selecting means for selecting a density area to realize therein a visually uniform gradation in the edge part from the print sample generated by the print sample generating means; and an edge portion image correcting means for correcting a region of the edge portion of the image to be printed based on a density of the density area selected by the density area selecting means.
