PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately increase a resolution of an input image signal with a few frames. SOLUTION: First resolution processing is performed in which a plurality of images are input and among the plurality of inputted images, two sets of images, each set being constituted of two images, are used to produce one high-resolution image for each set, the high-resolution image being obtained by increasing a resolution either in a horizontal direction or in a vertical direction. Second resolution processing is performed in which two images produced in the first resolution processing are used to produce one high-resolution image, the high-resolution image being obtained by increasing a resolution either in a horizontal direction or in a vertical direction where the high-resolution processing is not performed in the first resolution processing.
