PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To irradiate an original with light without color nonuniformity. SOLUTION: An image irradiator 116 irradiating the image of the original placed on an original table 14 with light includes an irradiating means 117 and a cover member 118. The irradiating means 117 has an LED 117a for irradiating the original with light. The cover member 118 covers the LED 117a and includes: a diffusion surface 118a for diffusing the light emitted from the LED 117a; and an opening part 118b for introducing the diffused light to the original.
