PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire position information, which is used when estimating the position of a moving body (for example, robot), more efficiently than before. SOLUTION: A position information acquisition apparatus 60 for acquiring position information based on detection of a light signal coming from outside includes: a beam splitter 2 for splitting the light signal into first and second directions; a position detecting sensor 3 for receiving a light signal guided in the first direction via the beam splitter 2; a CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) imager 6 which has an imaging area provided with a plurality of pixels and receives, at least one pixel, a light signal guided in the second direction via the beam splitter 2; and a control part for allowing the CMOS imager 6 to read out a signal from a part of the plurality of pixels based on output of the position detecting sensor 3, or controlling the timing for the CMOS imager 6 to take an image based on the output of the position detecting sensor 3.
