<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress an occupant's discomfort feeling after avoiding danger. <P>SOLUTION: When detecting a danger (a collision estimated time becomes less than t1), this occupant protection device adjusts a seat to adjust a seat back tilt angle to a predetermined appropriate range, then when the danger is avoided, adjusts the seat back tilt angle by a predetermined amount so that the occupant backs away from a seat belt.
