<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of cutting glass tubes which does not generate fine glass powders and improves the yields in cutting glass tubes without complicating the manufacturing process. <P>SOLUTION: The method of cutting glass tubes comprises a first step of forming a mark-off scratch on an intended cutting position on the outer or inner circumferential surface of a glass tube by pressing a cutter against the intended cutting position on the outer or inner circumferential surface of the glass tube and moving the glass tube and the cutter relatively along the intended cutting position and a second step of cooling the region where the mark-off scratch is formed on the outer or inner circumferential surface of the glass tube. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
