PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile apparatus capable of easily adding a reply sentence to a received document so that the reply sentence may not be overlapped with characters or the like in the received document. SOLUTION: The facsimile apparatus 1 is provided with a received document storage unit 11, a reply sentence information storage unit 12 and a reply document preparation unit 13. The received document storage unit 11 stores a received document. The reply sentence information storage unit 12 stores the contents of a reply sentence. Further, the reply sentence information storage unit 12 stores insertion position information about an insertion position for inserting the reply sentence into the received document. The reply document preparation unit 13 prepares a reply document on the basis of the received document, the contents of the reply sentence and the insertion position information. The insertion position for inserting the reply sentence into the received document is an area expanded from the outer end of each page of the received document to the outside. Thereby, a user of a user terminal 2 can easily add the reply sentence to the received document without paying special attention thereto so that the reply sentence may not be overlapped with characters or the like in the received document.
