PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit breaker for improving current-limiting performance during circuit breakage by optimally controlling inner pressure near a pair of two contacts. SOLUTION: The circuit breaker includes a power supply side terminal 2 and a load side terminal 3 having fixed contacts 2a, 3a to be cooperated with movable contacts 1a, 1b of a movable contactor 1, respectively, for carrying a current to the movable contacts during short-circuit current occurrence so that the movable contactor generates electromagnetic repulsive force on an opening position, a turn driving rod 6 for transmitting rotating force to the movable contactor, and pull springs 4, 5 for imparting contact pressure to the movable contactor at the closing position of the breaker. Near the pair of movable contacts 1a, (1b) and fixed contacts 2a, (3a) of the power supply side terminal 2 and the load side terminal 3, insulators 8, 9 are arranged for discharging arc-extinguishing gas by an arc between the pair of contacts during circuit breakage to improve current-limiting performance. The amount of the arc-extinguishing gas generated by one insulator is different from the amount of the arc-extinguishing gas generated by the other insulator 9. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
