PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ring-opened metathesis copolymer having low water absorption, excellent adhesiveness to other materials such as metals and compatibility with other compounds such as a curing agent, exhibiting high heat-resistance and causing little delay and noise of a signal in a high-frequency range, and to provide a hydrogenated product of the copolymer. SOLUTION: The ring-opened metathesis copolymer and the hydrogenated product of the ring-opened metathesis copolymer having a hydroxy group, a desired monomer composition and high molecular weight can be produced by the ring-opening metathesis copolymerization of a norbornene monomer having a hydroxy group and a non-substituted norbornene monomer having three or more rings in the presence of a catalyst principally composed of an organic ruthenium compound having a coordinated neutral electron-donative ligand and hydrogenating the copolymerization product.
