PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper sheet handing device for reliably conveying paper sheets in a device when various different paper sheets are thrown-in to a common paper sheet entrance/exit. SOLUTION: The paper sheet entrance/exit 12 includes an opening 22 to which both paper sheets and checks are thrown-in, wherein a shutter 20 which opens/closes the opening 22 is formed so as to be movable. A step 21 is formed in the shutter 20, and when paper sheets are thrown-in, only the step 21 is made to enter the opening 22, and the width of the opening 22 is made narrow, and when checks whose width is wide are thrown-in, the whole shutter 20 is saved, and the width of the opening 22 is made wide.
