A data retrieval server displays a type and value of meta-information added to a retrieval subject file as a subordinate directory. When a user instructs the server of movement to a specific subordinate directory, the data retrieval server retrieves the type and value of the meta-information based on an identifier of instructed directory as a retrieval key. At this time, the server cumulatively stores the retrieval keys, narrows the files down to one including in its meta-information including all the cumulatively stored retrieval keys, and presents the file. Since an order of designating the retrieval keys is not in question, failure to take out a file due to unknown location of stared data can be prevented, and subject file can be taken out without specifying the directory structure.
|
