<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color recovery method and system that restores the colors of digital video images distorted due to lighting into colors under standard lighting, thereby overcoming the specific color problem that occurs in digital video images. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention comprises the steps of (a) determining criterion regions, taking into consideration the variance values for each color channel of video images to be restored; (b) computing relative surface reflectance for the determined criterion regions and computing the adjustment coefficients for excluding the distortion effects of a light source, by using the computed relative surface reflectance; and (c) recovering the colors for the video images which are to be restored by using the adjustment coefficient. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
