PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation device and an information providing method that provide information reduced in troublesomeness for a user. SOLUTION: A memory fixing degree estimating part 36 estimates a memory fixing degree from the past history of receiving information service on the running points of a vehicle, an elapsed time from the reception of the information service, and the like. A presented information selecting part 37 estimates information already known to a driver with high accuracy by asking the driver questions using a presenting part 8 and allowing the driver to answer in a free talk form or asking questions with two or three alternatives for the driver to answer. As to matters having high memory fixing degrees and considered to be already known to the driver, the amount of presented information is reduced to lessen the driver's feeling of troublesomeness when presenting information.
