PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotating electric machine which can expand a rotor drive space by controlling the occurrence of an induced voltage during high speed rotation of a rotor. SOLUTION: In a rotating electric machine comprising a stator, and a rotor arranged opposite to the stator through a gap (a) and equipped with permanent magnets, a variable mechanism 13 for varying the reluctance is arranged on a magnetic circuit through which magnetic flux generated from a permanent magnet 15 passes, or a magnetic circuit through which magnetic flux passes in a direction electrically intersecting the direction of magnetic flux generated from the permanent magnet 15 perpendicularly. The variable mechanism 13 moves to approach the rotor 11 or to recede therefrom while rotating relatively to the rotor 11 on the rotating shaft 14 of the rotor. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
