PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and related communication device for improving discontinuous reception (DRX) functionality so as to reduce power consumption of user terminal (UE) and extend standby time. SOLUTION: The method includes the steps of: starting a DRX Retransmission Timer to monitor a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH); and stopping the DRX Retransmission Timer when the monitored PDCCH indicates that a downlink packet of a Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) process is transmitted.
