PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner capable of surely removing dust attached to a pleated filter. SOLUTION: This vacuum cleaner can selectively change over between a main air duct for sucking air by driving an electric blower and a sub-air duct W2 having a part of the air duct shared with the main air duct and sucking air by driving the electric blower. A pleated filter 92 is provided on the downstream side of a dust collection unit provided in the main air duct, at a common part of the main air duct and the sub-air duct W2. An opening/closing valve 85 is provided for opening/closing a small-size inlet 82a of an open air inlet 82 respectively. This vacuum cleaner can secure the velocity of the open air introduced from the open air inlet 82 to the upstream side of the pleated filter 92, and surely remove the dust attached to the pleated filter 92.
