A method and device for providing support for transmitting a media stream embedded in the control stream are provided. The method includes: a media gateway receives an indication of transmitting the media stream embedded in the control stream from the media gateway controller (101); the media gateway processes the transmission of the control stream which embeds a media stream data with the media gateway controller according to the indication (102). The media gateway controller that provides support for transmitting a media stream embedded in the control stream includes: an indication transmitting unit, for transmitting an indication of transmitting the media stream embedded in the control stream to the media gateway; a transmission process unit, for processing the transmission of the control stream which embeds a media stream data with the media gateway. The application of the embodiment of the present invention can provide a solving scheme high efficient for transmitting a media stream embedded in the control stream.
