OSD DISPLAY POSITION DECIDING SYSTEM AND DIGITAL TELEVISION RECEIVER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that it is easy for an OSD to overlap with an MPEG picture when the OSD is displayed on a screen.

SOLUTION: This system comprises: a frame buffer for holding an image plane; an OSD display frame candidate output part for outputting an OSD display frame candidate displaying OSD display information with respect to an image receiving screen; a black level detection part for calculating a degree in which the OSD display frame candidate output by this OSD display frame candidate output part is overlapped with a black level part in the image receiving screen; an OSD information management part for outputting OSD display information; an OSD display position decision part for deciding an OSD display position from among the OSD display frame candidates output by the OSD display frame candidate output part based on the overlapping degree with the black level part calculated by the black level detection part; and a composition part for compositing an OSD display frame of the OSD display information into the image plane held by the frame buffer based on an OSD display position decided by the OSD display position decision part.
