PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent color reproduction from being impaired even when gradation compression processing is applied to an image, where a high-luminance subject of high color purity is present inside a low-luminance subject. SOLUTION: An image processing method uses the image processor, which includes: a gradation conversion part for using a prescribed conversion curve to compress gradation of luminance, with respect to an image to be inputted; a linear matrix processing part for correcting the image to be inputted via the gradation conversion part by matrix operation; and a hue/saturation adjustment part for performing conversion processing of hue and saturation, on the basis of a set of parameters, with respect to the image to be inputted via the linear matrix processing part. That is, it is determined whether or not brightness of an image to be processed is prescribed brightness or lower and the combination of operation of respective processing parts are controlled, on the basis of the state of a gradation conversion function of the gradation conversion part and a result of the brightness determined.
