PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a back plate for plasma display panel capable of obtaining level difference ribs with small variations in the dimensions. SOLUTION: A first rib material layer 4a is formed on a dielectric layer 3 of a back plate-forming member; a first photosensitive resist pattern 5 is formed by using a photosensitive resist on the first rib material layer 4a being a position corresponding to a horizontal rib; and by performing a blast treatment 6 for removing a part or the whole of the first rib material layer 4a exposed; a horizontal rib-forming projection part 7 is formed. A stopper layer 8 is formed on the surface of the crown part of the horizontal rib-forming projection part 7; a second rib material layer 4b is formed so as to cover the first rib material layer 4a and the stopper layer 8; a second photosensitive resist pattern 9 is formed, by using the photosensitive resist on the second rib material layer 4b, a position which corresponds to a vertical rib 4x; and by performing the blast treatment, the level difference rib is formed.
