PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air compressor capable of restraining ice in an annular flow path of a compressor and preventing damage of a moving blade such as blade bending even when an IGV is excessively closed. SOLUTION: In this air compressor 1, an air intake port IGV6 of an annular flow path 5 formed between a rotor 4 and a casing 3 is provided, and moving blades 8A to 8E provided on the rotor 4 side and stationary blades 9A to 9E provided on the casing 3 side are alternately provided on its downstream side in multiple stages. At least some of the stationary blades 9a to 9E are variable stationary blades 9A to 9C. This air compressor includes temperature sensors 11A to 11C for detecting an air temperature in the air intake port 2 or the annular flow path 5, and a control unit 12 for restraining ices by further closing at least one of the variable stationary blades 9A to 9C when the IGV6 is excessively throttled and a value detected by the temperature sensors 11A to 11C is not more than a setting temperature.
