838,524. Centrifugal fans and pumps. PRECISION MECANIQUE. March 10, 1958 [March 22, 1957; Aug. 20, 1957], No. 7546/58. Class 110 (1). [Also in Groups I, II, XXVII and XXVIII] A centrifugal fan comprises an annular drum 5 secured to the shaft of an electric motor 1 and having an open end 6a and a perforated peripheral wall 5a which together with an inturned flange 6 and the closed end of the drum serves to support an inner continuous annulus 7 of air-pervious material, e.g. paper or wire mesh having radial pleats, which sucks air through the opening 6a and forces it through the material 7 and the perforations 5a. In a modification the drum is cylindrical and air is drawn through the perforated peripheral wall by the inner pleated pervious material and is discharged along the axis of the drum. Such apparatus may serve to filter gases and liquids (see Groups I and XXVIII). |
