A method for adjusting signal transmission bandwidth is provided. The method includes that: the media gateway receives a command request, which includes the signal transmission bandwidth adjusting information; the media gateway adjusts the signal transmission bandwidth according to the signal transmission bandwidth adjusting information. Meanwhile, a media gateway and a media gateway controller are also provided. By extending the media gateway control protocol (H.248 OR MGCP), the transmission bandwidth adjusting information of a signal is transmitted while the signal is being transmitted, the signal is adjusted according to the signal transmission bandwidth adjusting information, the signal and/or signal list which the signal transmission bandwidth adjusting information aims at are transmitted simultaneously, and the uninterrupted executing process of the signal is maintained. |
