<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further reduce the burden in character input operation on a character device with limited number of keys, such as a mobile phone terminal. <P>SOLUTION: A prediction unit 150 predicts an input candidate and causes a display unit to display it when an input key is depressed at an input unit having a plurality of keys assigned to a plurality of characters. A control unit 160 stores an input candidate determined to be input among a plurality of the input candidates displayed on the display unit and the depressed input key in association with each other, in an input history 144.
