摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyester composed of an ester compound of 6,6'-(alkylenedioxy)di-2-naphthoic acid (ANA) and ethylene glycol, while imparting a fine color tone and high heat resistance, without causing problems such as reduction in reaction rate and increase of by-products such as diethylene glycol. SOLUTION: The method for producing the polyester includes conducting an ester exchange reaction of a lower alkyl ester of ANA with ethylene glycol, and further conducting a polycondensation reaction, wherein the amounts of a titanium compound and at least one metal compound of manganese, zinc, calcium or magnesium added as a catalyst are confined to≤1 mmol% in terms of titanium element (Ti) and 10-100 mmol% in terms of the metal element (M), respectively, relative to the number of moles of all the acid component, and a phosphorus compound added to deactivate the catalyst is used in an amount in terms of phosphorus element (P) 0.2-5 times (by mole) the total amount (Ti+M).
