PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a differential assembling method for carrying out assembling work of a differential while positively maintaining the phase of temporarily assembled differential parts when the differential assembling work is carried out by using a dummy shaft, to thereby improve the working efficiency of the differential assembling work, and also to provide a differential assembling device. SOLUTION: The assembling method of the differential 1 comprises a side gear insertion step, a pinion gear insertion step, a differential parts turnably inserting step, and a pinion shaft exchanging step. In the differential parts turnably inserting step, pivoting rotation of the dummy shaft 13 is inhibited by a dummy shaft first engaging mechanism 36, and in the pinion shaft exchanging step, pivoting rotation of the dummy shaft 13 is inhibited by a dummy shaft second engaging mechanism 37.
