PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-performance linear motor excellent in assembleability and maintenability, and a component transfer apparatus using this linear motor. SOLUTION: Upright walls 1b, 1c extend from both end portions of a base plate 1 of a width direction Y to a normal line direction (+X) of a base surface 1a, and a recess portion 1e surrounded by the upright walls 1b, 1c and the base surface 1a is formed to open as a housing space in a normal line direction (+X) of the base surface 1a. Since the opening of the base plate 1 formed in such a way has expansion in a moving direction Z and the width direction Y, the recess portion 1e side (housing space side) is accessed from the normal line direction (+X) side of the opening through the opening.
