PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method capable of manufacturing a back plate for plasma display panel having level difference matrix ribs easily and accurately. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method comprises a process to form a rib layer 40 on a rib-forming substrate 20, a process to form a rib layer with concavo-convex 45 from the rib layer by injecting a blast material 75, and a process to form a level difference matrix rib 30 from the rib layer with concavo-convex 45 by injecting the blast material 75. The rib layer with concavo-convex 45 includes a plurality of linear projection parts 46 extending along a first direction. The level difference matrix rib 30 includes a plurality of first ribs 34 which include the linear projection parts and extend along the first direction and a plurality of second ribs 38 which extend along a second direction between the first ribs and are lower than the first ribs.
