A backlight control apparatus is provided to control the strength of light emitted from LEDs by controlling the current flowing through the LEDs. An image processing module(204) receives a video image signal for showing a video image, divides the video image into a plurality of block regions, and generates a plurality of PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) data signals corresponding to one of the block regions. A control module(206) generates the PWM signals based on a synchronization signal. A driving module(208) operates a backlight element based on the PWM signals. |
