An OH radical generating apparatus is provided to effectively oxidize, decompose, and sterilize contaminants such as volatile organic compounds and the like in the air by coating titanium dioxide on an inner surface of a housing and disposing light in a wavelength range used in the photoreaction longitudinally in the center of the housing. An OH radical generating apparatus comprises: a housing(1) which forms an external appearance of the OH radical generator, which has an inlet and an outlet respectively formed in front and rear sides thereof, and of which an inner peripheral surface is coated with titanium dioxide to form a TiO2 coating layer(3); a hydrogen peroxide generator(40) having a nozzle(41) disposed to communicated with the inlet and pass through the housing; and an UV lamp(2) which is floated in the housing by a supporter(4) and which vaporizes hydrogen peroxide flown in the inlet of the hydrogen peroxide generator, thereby generates OH radicals between the UV lamp and TiO2 coating layer to decompose, oxidize and sterilize air sucked into the housing and exhaust the sterilized air to the outside through the outlet. There is a mixing zone(13) formed to a length that is not less than a distance between inner walls of the housing between an inlet end of the housing and a front end of the UV lamp.
