<p>A door handle assembly (96, 110) includes a handle pivot housing (10, 112) and a main handle (54) rotatably or otherwise pivotally secured within the handle pivot housing (10, 112). The handle pivot housing (10, 112) includes handle engaging-walls (14, 16) defining a handle pivot cavity (24) therebetween. At least one of the handle-engaging walls (14, 16) includes an integrally formed boss (98) extending into the handle pivot cavity (24). The main handle (54) includes an arm (60, 120) integrally formed with a pivot joint (62) defining a pivot axis. The pivot joint (62) rotatably secures to the boss (98). A cap (56, 122) is secured to the main handle (54) wherein the cap (56, 122) is made of a different material than the main handle (54). The assembly further comprises a counterweight (58, 118) with a fin (94) so as to secure the cap onto the main handle (54).</p> |
