A diamond sinter which has satisfactory electrical conductivity and is comparable in hardness, thermal conductivity, heat resistance, chemical stability, etc. to natural diamond; and a process for producing the sinter. A raw-material powder is prepared which comprises 90-99.9 wt.% boron-doped diamond powder having a dopant boron amount of 1-10 wt.% and, as a binding phase component, 0.1-10 wt.% carbonate powder comprising one or more of the carbonates of magnesium, calcium, strontium, and barium and composite carbonates of two or more of these. The raw-material powder is sintered under ultrahigh-pressure high-temperature conditions to melt the binding phase component and cause it to infiltrate into and fill the interstices among particles of the boron-doped diamond powder. Thus, a boron-doped diamond sinter having satisfactory electrical conductivity and heat resistance is obtained. |
