A method for manufacturing a norbornene monomer containing an apolar alkyl group is provided to improve purity by modifying the injecting method into a dienophile reactor. A method for manufacturing a norbornene monomer containing an apolar alkyl group comprises the steps of mixing cyclopentadiene, dicyclopentadiene or their mixture, and a compound represented by CH2=CH-R in a molar ratio of 1:1~1:3; and reacting it at a temperature of 170~240°C for 0.5~10 hours, wherein R is an aliphatic alkyl group of the carbon number 1 ~ 6 or an aromatic alkyl group.
