TRANSGENIC PERILLA HAVING INCREASED TOCOTRIENOL CONTENT

A transformed Perilla frutescens plant is provided to overexpress HGGT cDNA in wild type Perilla frutescens and increase the content of tocotrienol. A transformed Perilla frutescens plant of which tocotrienol content comprises a HGGT gene of the sequence nuber 1 which is related to the biosynthesis of tocotrienol derived from a rice. The transformed plant has less tocophenol content and more tocotrienol content comparing the wild type. The transformed plant has reduced alpha-tocopherol and increased beta-tocopherol and gamma-tocopherol.
