An intelligent flash apparatus and method of a digital imaging device are provided to analyze a scene based on an image and control a flash when image quality deterioration causes like excessive reflection or light spread in a special photographing environment occurs. The intelligent flash apparatus of a digital imaging device comprises an image analyzer(101) and a flash controller(102). The image analzyer analyzes light quality feeling property for the preview image of the digital imaging device. According to the analyzed result of the image analyzer, the flash controller controls the amount of radiation or illumination angle of a flash equipped with the digital imaging device.
