A cooling and heating system and a control method thereof are provided to prevent overheated refrigerant from being introduced into a compressor due to the staying of the refrigerant in an indoor heat exchanger which is not in operation. A cooling and heating system includes a heating unit(160) for supplying refrigerant discharged from an indoor heat exchanger(120) to a compressor(110) after heating the refrigerant. At the driving condition of the heating unit, a valve(122) mounted to a refrigerant pipe at the outlet of the indoor heat exchanger is opened for increasing the flow rate of the refrigerant.
