A media separating apparatus of a media automatic dispenser is provided to prevent the media from being interfered with a pickup roller when the media is reversely transferred on detecting skew of the media. A media separating apparatus of a media automatic dispenser includes a pickup bracket(34), a skew detecting sensor(80), a feed roller(50), a contra roller(60) and an interlocking unit. A pickup roller(38) is rotatably installed at the pickup bracket in order to pick up and transfer the media. The skew detecting sensor detects the skew of the media picked up by the pickup roller. The feed roller is adhered to one surface of the media and transfers the media by frictional force. The contra roller separates the media one by one in cooperatively conjunction with the feed roller. The interlocking unit rotates the pickup bracket in a direction being away from a hand plate(32) in interlock with the rotation of the feed roller when the skew of the media is detected and the feed roller rotates in a reverse direction.
