The mechanism has an adjustment element e.g. height and inclination adjustment element i.e. hinge, provided with an axle (34) laterally protruding towards outside. A thumb wheel or control button i.e. handle (2) has an external crown (25) and an internal sleeve (21). An intermediate element (4) i.e. insert, has an internal sleeve cooperating with the axle. An external wall of the internal sleeve cooperates with an internal wall of the sleeve (21) and defines clips (43) directed towards inside. The clips cooperate with a groove (332) coaxial to the axle and carried by the adjustment element.
