A method and a device for performing handoff of a DAP(Data Attachment Point) in a mobile communication system are provided to reduce overhead owing to a signaling message by preventing that DAP handoff is excessively generated by mobility of a terminal. A timer measures time when a base station gets to be a serving base station of a terminal. The timer is initialized and operated(203). When the timer is expired at the predetermined time, execution of DAP handoff is determined by using a pilot report message received from the terminal.
