The device (10) has a supporting strap (22) surrounding an element i.e. catalyst (12) of an exhaust line of a motor vehicle. An opening/closing unit (24) is arranged in the strap for opening/closing the strap. The opening/closing unit is provided with a sleeper. The sleeper has a notched element integrated with a part of the strap, and a locking element integrated with another part of the strap. A pivoting tensioning and locking/unlocking level has an end pivotatly mounted between ears of a support.
