An RGB-TO-RGBW transform system and a method thereof according to the color gamut of an RGBW output display for changing color coordinates in which a user wants from RGB data to RGBW data are provided to reduce the number of backlights capable of high-brightness expression. A first converter(102) changes RGB(Red, Green, Blue) input data to translation data of one color coordinates. A gamut decider(103) determines the color gamut in which translation data exists about the color gamut of RGBW(Red, Green, Blue, White) output display. A second converter(105) converts translation data into RGBW output data in consideration of the color gamut in which translation data exists. The color gamut determining unit sets up the GBW color gamut, the RGW color gamut and the RBW color gamut.
