A liquid crystal display device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to prevent the upper and lower substrates from being damaged due to the external shock. Upper and lower substrates(110,120) of a cell size are joined together. A liquid crystal layer(130) is filled between the upper and lower substrates. The sealant(115) maintains the gap between the upper and lower substrates. A sealing member is formed at the whole edges of the upper and lower substrates or a part.
