The present invention refers to a machine for cutting and frying potatoes. The machine is characterised in that it includes utensils for cutting and frying potatoes in a single device, turning the same into a novel product within the food processing field; the use of the present machine removes the requirement to have two devices for preparing French fries. The simple operation and configuration of the device turn the invention into a novel machine, since most of the components thereof are available on the market and the operation thereof is based on introducing natural potatoes, without being previously processed, in a feeding ramp (47) where the mechanism of the device will detect the presence of potatoes by an optical sensor which is useful for actuating the cutter, this latter element comprising an acme screw (31) and a lever for pressing the potato against the blades (19) which provide the potato the geometry desired by the user, the potatoes then falling into a basket, which is fitted to a lift intended to immerse and lift the potatoes from the oil container used to perform the frying process.
