The device has a holder for displacing a vehicle, and robots (20, 30) equipped with a measuring head for measuring clearance and coplanarity on the vehicle. A command console of the robots is programmed for interlocking a position of a prehension hand of the robots and a position of the measuring head with displacement of the vehicle. A measurement rack is arranged for controlling and processing measurement signals produced by the measuring head. An independent claim is also included for a method for automatic controlling of clearance and/or flush on a vehicle.
