PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent contact between a lower end surface of a pushing-out member and a contact pin while an electric component is not housed in a socket for an electric component. SOLUTION: The socket for an electric component includes: a socket body 1 having a housing part 11 for housing an electric component therein; a socket cover 3 swingably mounted to the socket body 1; a pusher 4 arranged on a closing side surface of the socket cover 3, and having a pressing surface 26 pressing the housed electric component 8 downward; and the pushing-out member 5 arranged on the pressing surface 26 of the pusher 4, movable inward/outward from the pressing surface 26, pressing the electric component 8 downward independently of the pusher 4, and preventing the electric component 8 from adhering to the pressing surface 26 when the socket cover 3 is opened. The pushing-out member 5 is provided, at the upper end, with an extension part 6 extending in a direction perpendicular to the pushing-out direction of the pushing-out member 5, and the extension part 6 is formed to abut the upper surface of the outer peripheral wall of the housing part 11.
