PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately discriminate conditions for performing a stable recording operation in a recording medium. SOLUTION: A recording device includes: a means for setting interruption conditions of a recording operation for each of a plurality of causes, a means for judging the interruption of the recording operation, a means for changing condition setting for interrupting the recording operation among three sections, i.e., a recording period, a period immediately before the start of a recording operation, and a playback period, and a means for setting the period immediately before the start of the recording operation for each cause necessary for judging the interruption of the recording operation. When a wobbling signal is stable, for example, the problem that a servo state becomes unstable and an abnormal recording medium is generated if recording is started or continued is prevented.
