摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earth retaining structure which can also adapt to rotary penetration by eliminating a protrusion, formed on an outer peripheral surface, so as to reduce pressing resistance of a steel pipe, which can secure excellent cut-off properties by a simple structure, and which uses the steel pipe dispensing with face cutting and soil improvement. SOLUTION: This earth retaining structure 1 using the steel pipe, which is formed by driving the steel pipe 3 into ground G, comprises the steel pipe 3 in which an opening 6 for the passage of the shield machine 2 is formed in a part of a peripheral drum portion 5, a slidable steel plate 7 for a gate, which is applied to close the opening 6, and a cut-off space 8 for preventing the inflow of water and sediment into the steel pipe 3. The protrusion is not provided on the outer peripheral surface of the earth retaining structure 1, and the cut-off space 8 serves as a storage space for the steel plate 7 in the expansion of the gate.
